About this Episode
Originally from Ukraine, Slavko Komarnystky, PhD, began his academic career studying gene sequencing and expression. But soon Komarnystky came to the realization that “studying plants is not enough. If I really want to make a difference, I have to use my knowledge, my background, and my expertise in plant biology and apply it to the world of human health.”
His epiphany eventually led him to the position he currently holds at the North Carolina State University Plants for Human Health Institute, Associate Professor of Pharmacogenomics. In this podcast, Komarnytsky discusses the difference between two receptors of the endocannabinoid system, CB1 and CB2, including their distribution in the body and their physiological effects.
